Their story
Remembering Our Beloved Dad
Eddie was a devoted husband to Nerida, a proud father to Sharon and Myra, a respected father-in-law to Richard, Brett and Clinton, and a much-loved grandfather to Tamieka, Kurtis, Trey and Shaliyah. To his family, he was affectionately known as "Bardie"—a name spoken with love and fondness.
He had a lifelong love of the outdoors. Whether he was heading off on another camping adventure, fossicking for rocks, casting a fishing line, or simply spending time in his shed building, fixing or tinkering, Eddie was always happiest when he was keeping busy. He appreciated nature, enjoyed a quiet life, and never needed much to be content.
Another great passion of Ed's was his footy and his love for the mighty Penrith Panthers. Win, lose or draw, he was a loyal supporter through and through, and never missed the chance to cheer them on.
Eddie was a humble, kind and hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humour. He was a bit of a joker and always seemed to have a joke or a funny story ready to share. He loved making people smile and bringing laughter to those around him. His wit, cheeky grin and good humour were just some of the many things that made him so enjoyable to be around.
He wasn't one to seek attention or make a fuss. Instead, he showed his love through his actions—by being there for his family, lending a hand whenever it was needed, and quietly getting on with whatever life placed in front of him.
In the later years of his life, Eddie faced more than his fair share of challenges. He battled bladder cancer and gradually lost much of his eyesight to macular degeneration. For a man who loved camping, fishing, fossicking and working with his hands, losing the ability to enjoy those passions was incredibly difficult. Yet, despite these setbacks, he rarely complained and continued to face each day with quiet courage and determination.
One of the brightest parts of those later years was the time he spent travelling north to be with Kath. Those visits gave him something to look forward to, and he genuinely enjoyed the companionship, friendship and happy times they shared together. His family are grateful that he was able to have that happiness in his life.
Eddie's greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply and the memories he created with them. His kindness, humour, quiet resilience and love of the outdoors will always be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Although we can no longer see him or hear his voice, his presence remains in the stories we tell, the places he loved, the laughter he brought to our lives, and the values he passed on to us.
He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
