Guide for funeral homes
How optional funeral-home acknowledgement works
A quiet acknowledgement can explain who made Premium access available. It is deliberately small, reviewed before use and controlled by the family.
What may appear
Near the bottom of an eligible memorial, a small panel may state that Premium access was made available through the funeral home. It can use the partner’s approved public business name and, when separately approved, its logo and HTTPS website.
The acknowledgement is intentionally distinct from the family’s story, photographs and tributes. It explains the source of Premium access without presenting the funeral home as the memorial author.
Approval protects both sides
A partner supplies its requested public name, website and logo through the partner settings area. Held in Memory reviews public-facing business details before they can be used in an acknowledgement.
A name, logo or link may be rejected, removed or replaced with text-only acknowledgement if it is inaccurate, unsafe, misleading, unlawful or no longer authorised. Logo files are normalised before storage and display.
The family makes the visibility choice
The memorial owner can show or hide an available acknowledgement from the memorial settings. The funeral home cannot require it to remain visible and cannot change the family’s choice.
Held in Memory may also temporarily disable public display. The family’s saved preference is preserved if that happens.
What acknowledgement does not mean
- The funeral home does not own or manage the memorial
- The funeral home did not necessarily write, approve or endorse the content
- The acknowledgement does not expose family or visitor information
- The funeral home receives no editing, deletion or tribute-moderation access
- A website link is marked so search engines and browsers understand the commercial relationship
A reviewed record for a claimed memorial
When an eligible invitation is claimed, Held in Memory records the approved acknowledgement details for that memorial. An unreviewed change is never substituted as a new public identity. For safety, changing or removing a website can remove its previously verified link immediately. If an administrator later approves a new public name, verified website or replacement logo, the approved update may also be applied to earlier acknowledgements for that organisation. Removing approval can remove the affected detail from them.
The full rights and responsibilities for supplied branding appear in the funeral-director partner terms.
Common questions
Is the logo automatically shown after upload?
No. Public-facing branding is reviewed, the acknowledgement must be available for the claimed memorial, and the family controls whether it is shown.
Can we use a different marketing name?
You can request a public business name, but it must be reviewed against the organisation’s registered details before use.
Can the acknowledgement link to our website?
It may link to an approved HTTPS website when that website has been verified for the partner organisation.
Can we see how many visitors click the acknowledgement?
No partner visitor analytics are provided. The acknowledgement does not create access to family or visitor information.
Can a family restore an acknowledgement after hiding it?
Yes. The memorial owner can change the show-or-hide choice later while the acknowledgement remains available.
